CHATTER·JAM
6 of June 2026
“We really JAM what you do”
“Jam (j’aime) beaucoup ce que vous faites…”
“Musicians, researchers, microscope wizards, brushwork magicians, dreamweavers, poets, wanderers meandering here and there… All of these and so much more: come and join us in this vibrant, colourful and lively tent for a shared experience, a jam* (*improvisation) of sounds, colours, lines and ideas, on the grass at Puidoux.
On Saturday 6 June, the CHATTER·JAM (La JAM BAVARDE) welcomes science enthusiasts keen to explore, non-musicians, musicians, budding painters and illustrators, artists up for anything – whatever your field, everyone and anyone… There’ll be instruments, plenty to play, sing, paint, draw, invent, chat, eat and drink.”

The Chatter·Jam, What is it ?
Our association has a long-standing tradition, the CHATTER·APERITIF (Apéro Bavard), an annual gathering organized by Artecapt for its members. In 2026, Artecapt is launching a new project called “la Jam Bavarde” / “the Chatter·Jam”. Over the course of a spring Saturday afternoon, Artecapt is offering its members (and friends) the chance to take part in workshops on sound, musical and visual improvisation. The idea is to provide a creative and welcoming setting to experiment, try things out, think outside the box, meet up and happy chat. The day will take place in a beautiful garden in Puidoux (near of the Leman Lake, Switzerland) and will conclude with a collective BBQ-buffet accompanied by music.
WORKSHOPS MENU
2pm – Welcome to the Chatter·Jam / Jam Bavarde !
An overview of the day’s programme, followed by a welcome drink courtesy of Artecapt.
Workshop – Concerto for Soldering Iron and Screwdriver in F-sharp
“The Engineering Workshop” welcomes DIY enthusiasts. The aim is to build “an unlikely sound machine”. Whether the result is analogue, electronic and/or otherworldly, the aim is for us all to then improvise using the instruments provided, or your own instruments or voices, to the sound produced by this machine.
Workshop – Visuals set to the sounds of a summer’s day
If you’re more inspired by images than by sound, bring along whatever you need to paint, sculpt, cut out, draw, take photographs or film. As the day’s musical improvisations unfold, whatever your age or skill level, your visual creations will accompany the sounds and music. Annick Caretti, a talented illustrator and watercolourist, will gently guide the visual arts aspect of this workshop.
3pm – Workshop – An impromptu choir under the apple tree
Sébastien Krauer invites us to explore and let our voices ring out in an impromptu choir on the grass. Whether you’re a singer or not, this moment and the group will create harmonies, dissonances, laughter and vibrations!
4pm – Workshop – The “Land Art” Orchestra under the trees
This workshop invites participants to work together to create a sound structure and sculpture, made up of acoustic and ethnic instruments, kitchen lids, and pieces of wood, stone or metal, which we will hang from the branches of a beautiful apple tree. Once everything is ready, we will improvise a sound piece on it, which will be recorded. If you have any instruments or objects at home that make a nice sound, please do bring them along!
6pm – Workshop – Film music for “Microscopic Life”
Using footage of single-celled organisms filmed under a microscope and then projected onto a screen, everyone will be invited to improvise using the instruments and voices available. We will make several recordings. In the weeks following the JAM BAVARDE, the soundtrack of these tiny creatures and their infinitely small world that you have created will be re-synchronised. The video with the soundtrack will then be made available to you on the artecapt website.
7pm – Collective BBQ-Bar-Buffet & Music
As the sun sets, fairy lights and lanterns will take centre stage, whilst percussion and paintbrushes make way for barbecues. This will mark the start of an evening of culinary delights and lively conversation. An eclectic, groovy playlist will provide the soundtrack to the open stage, featuring jam sessions and live music.
10pm – Closing of the Chatter·Jam / Jam Bavarde
After enjoying the sunset, a barbecue and some music, it will be time to say our goodbyes. If anyone would like to help out, we’d be very grateful for a hand in tidying up the site.
And… a little later…
Using all the audio recordings, drawings, paintings, photos, videos and publication permissions provided by everyone, we will create a dedicated page on the Artecapt website in the weeks following the JAM BAVARDE. You will, of course, be notified by email when it goes live, and you’ll be able to view the improvised works captured during this experimental day!

NOTE. This project exists thanks to the invaluable support of our members and their annual membership fees, as well as the help of our volunteers, without whom none of this would be possible. A huge thank you to you all!!!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
DO I NEED TO BECOME A MEMBER OF ARTECAPT TO TAKE PART IN THE JAM BAVARDE?
No, it isn’t compulsory. However, by becoming a member (even if it’s just to take part in this event without any further involvement), your presence and the annual membership fee – which is voluntary (recommended minimum: 30.-/year) – will both help to sustain the association and contribute to funding our future projects.
